The Amateur Radio and Volkswagen Addicts site
About me

I have had an Amateur Radio Call since 1980, initially as G6SMA as a class B operator and then as G4USB since 1981. My preference is for HF operation either from the home station where I use a Cushcraft X7 on 10,15 & 20m, an 80m and a 40m dipole etc or, mobile from my VW camper using an ICOM 706G II or my crewcab pickup using the Kenwood TS480 both with Pro-Am or Hustler mobile whips.

I am currently President of the Cornish Radio Amateur Club and responsible as co-founder, for the International Marconi Day event that we run each April on the Saturday nearest to Marconi's birthday.

I have become quite deeply involved in the local Volkswagen scene and at present I am Vice Chairman of the Cornwall VW Owners Club having been their Chairman in 2006. We are famous for our annual Jamboree that takes place over the three days of the August Bank Holiday weekend. We now use the Stithians Showground as our venue and fill about 40 acres with the vehicles and trade stands associated with the event.

My Volkswagen Addiction

Currently I own a variety of Volkswagens both air cooled and water cooled. A Beach Buggy with a 1955 chassis, A GT Beetle, A Baja Beetle, Golf Mk1 GTI, Scirocco Storm, G40 Polo, Corrado, Bora 4 Motion, T25 Custom Bus, T25 DOKA Syncro................too many really but can't help an addiction!

Is the weather going to hold out to be able to work on the home antennas or attend the VW show? Take a look at the forecast below. A full 5 day forecast is available.
